Watershed Development in India: Economic Valuation and Adaptation Considerations
This is the first of three case studies for a climate change initiative called Scaling Up Good Adaptation Practices (SSUGAP) Project. It focuses on the processes of restoring watersheds, which has been a part of India’s national approach to improve agricultural production and reduce poverty in rain-fed regions. This paper discusses the data collection needs and challenges for watershed development in relation to economic analysis. It also argues that there is a clear need for more systematic economic valuation of watershed development initiatives.

This is a Conference Synopsis paper from the Bonn 2011 Conference: ‘The Water, Energy and Food Security Nexus – Solutions for the Green Economy’. Organised by the German Federal Government, the conference was a German addition to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development, ‘Rio 2012’.
The aim of the conference was to bring people together to develop new approaches to address the interconnections between water, energy and food security.

Water Storage in an Era of Climate Change: Addressing the challenge of increasing rainfall variability
This is an IWMI report on physical water storage. It argues that there is a need to rethink water storage in the face of a rapidly rising world population and increasing uncertainty about climate change. It also argues for improved planning and management of all of the current water storage options.
